Using photographs and recordings of sea waves crashing, Julia Naidin’s sobering film evokes powerful images of displacement and the unbendable power of the forces of nature. Concrete Sea plays as an act of human resistance, as much as can be possible even as nature hurtles towards its unyielding course, in this case destruction. Sônia, resident of a beachside property, patiently documents the erosion caused by the sea as it advances into the beach and approaches her home.
