27 years ago, director Ike Nnaebue attempted making the perilous crossing to Europe by road and sea. Seduced by the prospects of a better life outside his home Nigeria, Nnaebue arrived as far as Bamako, Mali, before beating a retreat, having considered the risk too great. He retraces this journey with his film crew with a mind of understanding why people still make this attempt despite the documented dangers associated with the journey. Through copious self-reflection and direct encounters with migrants attempting the crossing, Nnaebue attempts to make sense of his past while at the same time considering the interplay of factors that drive young West Africans away from home.
