Displaying the significance of documentary as a tool for historical preservation, September Girls examines the response of school girls to recent accounts of Dulcie September. Featured as part of 2021 programme at Encounters, Murder in Paris, directed by Enver Samuel, followed the story of the female anti-Apartheid activist as a way to revisit and bring light to her story with the aim of finally gaining justice and recognition of her work and legacy. September Girls follows this, dramatizing the impact of these stories on young women in the present day, inspiring them to learn and impact historical narrative to include and empower women in the present. In the present digital moment, young social media savvy activists find new ways of achieving widespread recognition and bringing light to the past.
