Water is Water relates people of colour’s experiences of segregation and displacement from Cape Town’s beaches during Apartheid. A 200-year connection with the sea is discovered as Katherine Poggenpoel journals her conversations with her father and embarks on a journey to find a missing piece of her family tree in Kalk Bay, which predates the forced removal of indigenous people from their lands.
