Julia Cain (PhD) is a lecturer at the Centre for Film & Media Studies at the University of Cape Town where she works primarily with screen production students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is passionate about documentary film, teaching and learning, creative collaboration and developing South African creatives. Her students’ films have screened at festivals nationally (including Encounters!) and internationally and have won various awards. She has a deep concern about ethics in creative practice and serves on the UCT Humanity Faculty’s Research Ethics Committee.
