After gaining his MSc in International Development Management, Scott worked for social enterprise Alive and Kicking in Zambia, before moving into business incubation and venture capital with The Awethu Project in Johannesburg, where he managed multiple start-ups. On moving to Cape Town in 2014, he led the Siyayijika Project, a R1m business competition delivered in the Cape Flats. He founded School of Hard Knocks SA in 2016 while working for Laureus Sport for Good project CoolPlay, a NGO delivering social and emotional learning outcomes to 1200 children across Cape Town.
